Program of Day of the Dead at Iguana

Why Iguana is diferent and staying with us makes your experince in Mexico unforgetable? There are few traditions at Iguana Hostel, which we are proud to share every year with our guests, one of them is to invite to participate and share unique Mexican tradition of Dia de Muertos. Is not one of the main reasons why you come to Mexico for Novemer the 1st? So here is our programme. Join us, learn, experience and have fun.

28 october: We make our altar. Everybody’s welcome to join

31 October: 6pm Screening of COCO (read the previous post). Once you dried your tears, get face painted and ready for the Haloween party staring at Iguana and moving to the best bars in town.

1 November:  We recomend you to visit the cementery of El Romerillo (tzotizl community of San Juan Chamula) in the morning. At 6pm Screening fo COCO (for new guests and those who could not make it on the 31st).

2 Novemeber: 11am we take our guests to the cementary of San Juan Chamula, the nearby indigenous village, to experience this very unique celebrations. Brief introduction by Rudy before departure. We will travel by public transport.

Other activities in town: The competition of traditional altars will take place in Plaza del Cerrillo, just in front of Iguana Hostel with its closing on the 2nd of November, the tour of altars, workshops and expositions.
